Best Celebration of Two Hearts Uniting that I’ve seen in a very long time…

Kala_AmbroseAs we shift into the 21st century, our expanding consciousness is leading us to examine our lives and lifestyles in order to review who we are. As we conduct this inner search and reflection mission, we take stock of what is working for us and what is no longer applicable in our lives.

As a teacher of the ancient wisdom teachings, the hermetic axiom of As Above, So Below and As Within, So Without has led me to reflect on how what is changing within us, is also being reflected throughout society. It also led me to ponder this question… Is it time that we begin to review and change our traditions as well?

Many traditions, wedding ceremonies for example, reflect a reserved antiquated victorian ceremony with the solemn party stiffly marching in uniform step by step towards an altar. This led me to think deeper and ask… In this new age of love, consciousness, abundance, and joy, should weddings and other traditions and holidays be celebrated in new ways in accordance with the changing times?

I also wonder… How much thought do we give into why we celebrate the way that we do? Because it’s always been done a certain way, should this be our guidance to continue? And has it always really been done ” a certain way”? Take the celebration of Halloween in the US. In the early 1900’s through the early 1940’s, Halloween was primarily a holiday celebrated by adults with elaborate costume parties in private settings.  The concept of trick or treating was virtually nonexistent. With the Baby Boom of post world war two, the celebration of this holiday shifted into a children’s holiday with a focus more on community festivals and candy. Fifty years later, we’ve seen the holiday shift again, becoming more popular with adults and Halloween is now the second most popular and celebrated holiday in the US, (the first most popular is Christmas).  Yet I know many people who are under the impresson that Halloween has always been celebrated by children in this country. This is because if a tradition has been celebrated a certain way in our home since we were children,  we don’t give the origin of the tradition much thought. We assume that it has always been this way, unless we are shown otherwise.

Holidays are not the only traditions that have changed over time.  The majority of weddings and receptions held in the U.S. from the 1900’s through mid-century were tame, small scale events. Many weddings consisted of the woman wearing a nice dress and the man a suit to a brief  civil ceremony at the courthouse with a family member or a couple of friends as witnesses or an intimate church wedding with a reception following in the church hall or family home. Some theorize that the traditions of weddings, receptions and honeymoons altered as Hollywood in the mid-century began publicizing celebrity weddings and elaborate parties and the adoring public viewed these events on the silver screen and the television and wanted to emulate their idols.

The scale and grandeur of weddings and receptions has risen to a frenzied state. Reality TV shows feature “Bridezillas”, “My Big Fat Fabulous Wedding” and similar shows where weddings and receptions begin at the $60K budget and quickly move into six figures on many occasions. What is most intriguing to note is that during the planning, production and actual date of the event, the bride and groom often appear miserable, exhausted and worn out physically and emotionally and often experience complete meltdowns from the stress, rather than experiencing a moment of communion, joy and togetherness.   It leads one to wonder… Have we forgotten how to simply have a good time? What has happened to us as a society, that the celebration of two souls joining together in a union, has become a competitive event that must rival every other reception in history?  What direction does this set the young couple on for their life together?  It appears to set the expectation and desire that too much is never enough. Many times these couples themselves go into debt to pay for their wedding extravaganza and enter their marriage in debt, which quickly triples as they now compete to have the best house, cars, furniture, clothes and vacations.  Do we have an identity complex or low self-esteem as a society? Would our friends not like us if we did not have the reception of a lifetime or a better house than theirs?

As I continue to ponder these questions, I came across the most delightful video of a couple being married in Minnesota that gave me so much hope for the future! Their wedding procession was so spectacular that I can only imagine how fantastic the reception must have been. The scene here reminds me of the 60’s when people connected to the energy of the event and that being together with other loved ones was the main point of it all. Love was celebrated as an adjective, verb and noun and expressed fully in every way imaginable.

So I ask you dear readers, Is it time to reflect upon the traditions we have and recreate them? Perhaps we can keep the integrity of the meaning, while allowing the concept to stretch and evolve as we do… What do I like most about this video here? Easy, the focus is on friends and family celebrating the joyous union of two hearts uniting in love.  It gives me Hope, so much hope for things to come….

Enjoy, *~Kala~*

E = Explore Easy Reading with E-Books!

kala_ambroseHave you noticed how quickly time is moving as we shift into the new age of consciousness? It seems like we were just celebrating the New Year and here we are days away from August… We set goals of wanting to take more time for ourselves this year and to read more about subjects that inspire, educate and sometimes just entertain us.  Yet it’s hard to carry around a stack of books to read in the few moments we have to ourselves… on a quick lunch break, waiting in the carpool to pick up the children, on the train to work or if we’re really lucky, a few heavenly moments curled up in a chair reading a wonderful story….

While nothing will replace a paper book for me, I love it all, the smell, the paper, the feel of it in my hands, I also realize that in this age of communication, there are times when the purpose of technology is to create time saving shortcuts to help us in all that we do each day.  One  example of these tech evolutions is the Kindle, which allows books to be read in an electronic format. The 9lessonskindleKindle is compact, portable and holds over 200 books in its database. It’s the perfect gift for someone who travels often and can’t take a bag of books with them,  the busy executive who can read on the way into work on the train, moms and dads waiting to pick up children from an activity and for those techies, who we all know, who love playing with new technology, just because it’s new!  I don’t think Kindle will be the demise of books, too many people love books in their paper format, but Kindle will find its place in this world. One option that I see in the future, will be for high school and college students, who lug around so many heavy books from class to class, putting a strain on their backs and shoulders. Kindle would allow for all of their textbooks to be downloaded into the reader and the students will be able to search for certain paragraphs of information and mark these areas for study later.  The costly replacement due to the wear and tear on the books along with the children’s health, would be worth it alone!

I’m proud to say that my book 9 Life Altering Lessons: Secrets of the Mystery Schools Unveiled is now available on Amazon for Kindle. If you have a Kindle and you’ve read my book in this format, I’d love to hear from you about how you found the experience.  Drop in and share your thoughts with me on our new Explore Your Spirit Community where we discuss this book and others.

All the best to you on your journey,

The Mysticism of Moonstone…

niki_fountainWhen someone says “Goddess Energy” or “Divine Feminine” what do you think of?  I think for many people words like intuition, wisdom, and balance come to mind. Being a geologist, when I think of the Goddess, I think of one of my favorite crystals- Moonstone.  Moonstone is the quintessential stone to represent the Goddess Energy and, like the Goddess herself, can be very powerful.

So is moonstone from the moon? One might think so since the Goddess is also associated with the moon but the name in fact came from its milky and moon-like appearance.  Scientifically I can tell you that moonstone gets its beautiful sheen from the fact that it reflects light internally.  And as a spiritual person, I recognize that this is not a coincidence as it’s much like one working to connect with the Goddess- the need to reflect on things inside ourselves.

Mystically this stone is vibrating with the feminine wisdom and Goddess energy. It helps to create a reflective and calming energy and, because it is connected to the Divine Feminine energy, can assist in strengthening intuitive and psychic perception.  Obviously it is a very feminine crystal and helps women contact the goddess within.  Don’t feel left out gentlemen – this stone can help you connect with your feminine side too- something that is often forgotten.

There are many different ways you can incorporate the moonstone crystal into your daily life.  My favorite way is to use the Goddess soap and lotion that I created for my metaphysical line of bath products, Celestial Farms.  As with all of the products created in the Celestial Farms line, celestial_farms_product_linewe add charged and blessed crystals to the Goddess soap and lotion- in this case we add moonstone. By adding the moonstone to the bath products you are able to connect even further with the Goddess energy and carry it with you all day. And a bonus is that when you’ve used the soap or lotion up you have a small moonstone crystal to carry with you.

If you prefer to buy a moonstone crystal I recommend, as with any crystal or gemstone, that you cleanse and charge it before using it or carrying it with you.  There are many methods to clearing and cleansing a crystal and not all are safe for all crystals. So please keep in mind what I suggest here for moonstone may not be applicable to other crystals.  As we talk about different crystals in the future I’ll talk specifically about what methods are best in each case.

For moonstone I recommend first cleansing the stone with water.  I first place the stone under running water to remove any physical debris that may be present, such as dirt or dust.  The best place to do this would be in a stream with running water or in the ocean surf- this would allow the crystal to not only be cleansed but also be charged with the energy from the water in a more natural setting. But if that is not an option for you simply placing it under running water in your sink will work too. I do this for several minutes to be sure the crystal is well cleansed.

Now that you have cleaned your crystal physically we want to remove any energetic debris that may be attached as well. Crystals can absorb the energy around them, positive or negative, so we want to remove that before we open ourselves up to the stone. My preferred method is smudging. Simply light a bundle of white sage and let the smoke swirl around your stone.  I’ll also have a small dish of salt next to me to absorb any of the negative energy coming off the stone.

The next step is to charge your moonstone.  There are a number of methods to do this but I think the most powerful is to use the moon, preferably when it’s full. I would suggest doing this for several nights so start one night before the full moon and let the crystal absorb the energy through one night after the full moon. You simply place your stone outside under the moonlight and let the moon do its work.  If it feels appropriate to you, you might say a few words to the moon and the Goddess, asking them to bless the stone and charge it with their energies.  Do what feels right to you and what feels most natural. After the third night your stone is ready for you to use in your daily practice as you see fit.

More About Niki Fountain….

serene2Serene Bath & Body was the vision of its owner and founder, Niki Fountain. As a young woman, Ms. Fountain, like many girls her age, found herself with a poor body image and did not treat her body with the love and respect it deserved. Through the years she was able to overcome this and realized that everyone, especially young women, needed to learn to care for and respect their bodies. This eventually inspired Celestial Farms. The inspiration was one of creating products that would help young girls and women learn to love their bodies and treat them well by using high quality products that nourish the body, the mind, the spirit and the soul.  Ms. Fountain earned her Masters Degree in Hydrogeology and has a professional background in developing and perfecting soaps. She spent two years in a university laboratory as a hydrogeologist developing soap formulations to be used to “clean-up” chemicals that had been spilled into groundwater. She has been applying this experience and knowledge ever since while working in the environmental industry, cleaning up sites that have been contaminated with chemicals. She has since taken this knowledge and experience and applied it to developing and perfecting formulations of soaps for people. Additionally, being a geologist, she is intimately familiar with crystals and gemstones and both their physical and metaphysical properties. She uses this knowledge while creating new formulations that include various combinations of soaps/lotions with the appropriate crystals to obtain an array of desired outcomes (relaxation, invigoration, etc) More info at: www.theserenestore.com

Chivalry and Love

Amy_ZernerYou would think it verged on the impossible that any male cat, even a thoughtful one like our little shaman, Zane, could teach anyone anything about chivalry and true love and, until tonight, I would have agreed with you. Tonight was one of those rare times when my three favorite things – Amy, Zane, and my psychic gift – came together and produced this most special teaching.

I wish I could say with complete certainty that I can psychically hear Zane’s thoughts but my ability to understand what he’s trying to communicate seems to be largely the result of my simply paying attention to him and expecting him to try to express himself. I think all young cats living with humans try. No cat, however loving and smart, suffers fools gladly and their lack of patience is legendary. They soon stop trying if their attempts to interact are met by the ignor-ance of humans who are not trying to decipher their cat’s signals.

Amy and I have tried to treat Zane as a thinking being since the first moment we set eyes on him as a kitten back in May of 2001. We’ve now learned that he should have still been with his mother – eight weeks is now considered too early to separate them – and perhaps that is why he didn’t want to be picked up or held. And so we didn’t.

IMG_9794_1Zane has never been a lap cat. Living with him is like living with a noble, gentle, wise and wild animal who deigns come in his cat door to sleep and eat and come get me to go out and walk with him. It’s one of my favorite things in the world, both the walk and the fact that he’ll come get me and rub against my boots to show me he wants to go walking.

So I suit up no matter what the weather – he loves the rain and cold and tolerates the snow – in my glow-in-the-dark hat and jacket. I also wear a headlamp whose LED’s glow either white or red. Unless I need to see something clearly I prefer to use the red light because it enables me to see Zane’s eyes and that of the many other creatures walking around our country neighborhood at night – other cats, dogs, and the occasional raccoon, possum, deer, or fox. My night vision is quite good thanks to our nightly excursions and the red light doesn’t interfere with it. And the stars are so bright here at the eastern end of Long Island, one of the few places on the east coast dark enough for a person to be able to see the Milky Way – so gorgeous!

Not so gorgeous is the fact that practically everyone we meet tells Amy and me that we are the only happily married couple they have ever known, especially since we’ve been together since 1975 and were married in 1978. We are so obviously in love with each other, including the more than occasional public display of affection (PDA), that those who meet us for the first time assume that we are in the first blush of our romance or newlyweds on their second or third marriage who’ve finally gotten in right.

We have a few theories about how we got it right the first time. We put just about everything we know about dating, mating, and relating into our book “Love, Light, and Laughter: Relationship Secrets of the Enchanted Couple,” published by RedWheel/Weiser/Conari Press. One of the few things I forgot to include was what Zane taught me tonight on our walk.

Although I’m a sensitive New Age guy, I was born in Brooklyn, NY, in the 1950’s. It was not a good time to be a sensitive guy. Like almost every male who grew up there and then, I was set upon by groups of surly teenagers from before I was even ten years old. I survived mainly by using my brains, my sense of humor, my father being a NYPD cop, and by my being big for my age. If that failed – especially the cop for a father part – I knew I was dealing with someone so stupid and dangerous that I had to defend myself as best I could and try not to hurt anyone too much – my father would have not liked that! I also defended a few unlucky people who had violence done to them but did not have my skills, size and attitude and he didn’t like that, either.

Those days are decades behind me but for Zane, like our brave soldiers in harm’s way and totally on adrenaline-fueled guard right this second, it’s his moment-to-moment  experience to be on guard against the many critters, people, and cars that might do him harm. Lucky for us, he is very wary of human animals so the chance of some serial-killer-in-training of a young person hurting him or worse is very small. I detest cruelty to animals and have often intervened to prevent it, restraining myself from expressing myself physically. I know myself well enough to know that I would not restrain myself if someone harmed Zane and so I’m doubly grateful that he stays away from humans as much as possible.

Zane is quite gentle and respectful of us and allows us to cuddle and kiss him – he smells so good! Though he, like every healthy cat, is a perfect delivery system for claws and teeth, he never bites or scratches us or even anyone at the vet, where he’s known as a sweet and healthy boy.

But Zane is not so sanguine when it comes to other animals. I’ve seen him run straight at a raccoon to scare him off. The local bluejays – mean birds, no lie – give Zane room because he’s taken them off the bird feeder or in mid flight when they’ve attacked him! I’ve seen him go rocketing out of his cat door right at an offending dog who’d wandered through our back yard, sending the dog to the ground exposing his neck in the universal animal sign of surrender. Animals are smarter and nicer than humans that way. They have so much to teach us, if we’d just take the time to watch, listen and learn, so much that Amy and I were inspired to create our “Animal Powers Meditation Kit,” complete with a CD of very cool meditations inspired by various animals and set to original music by maestro Luigi G. Colorullo – it’s our “Peter & the Wolf.” You can find it on our shelves in the Spirituality section of almost every Barnes & Noble store in the USA. Or you can buy it online in several places, including from our Enchanted World website. Here’s the URL

http://www.theenchantedworld.com/productshowcase/productshowcase.php?Subpage_ID=29005&Section_ID=10&Subsection_ID=9&Bucket=Enchantments&Product_Detail=1&Product_ID=4301&Ecards=

I so enjoy the peace and love that we wrap ourselves in every day here in our Enchanted World, especially because my life was not always so tranquil. I recall getting attacked when I was in the sixth grade by someone old enough to be in high school, getting him down and making him promise to stop if I let him up (and breathe), only to have him really go to town on me once I had foolishly taken him at his word. That’s a lesson you don’t forget.

So when we’re out walking I’m often aware that though Zane has been neutered, he has not lost his male cat’s sense of territorial pride. I could have used the word “macho” but I have an issue with it. In fact, that issue is at the heart of this teaching of Zane.

My understanding of what it is to be a man is quite simple. So simple, in fact, that it is written as one sentence on the side of every Los Angeles police car, “To protect and serve.” It is a man’s job to protect those he cares about and to serve them as he sees fit, sure, but also to serve them as they ask to be served.

I certainly serve Amy and Zane. I serve Zane his food where he sits. I know, that’s spoiling him, but he enjoys it and I enjoy seeing Zane and Amy enjoy anything and everything. Life is indeed brutal and short, as Zane reminded us today when he brought in a chipmunk as our Wedding Anniversary present – he usually only brings in live animals and birds to our great distress (for his captives). We got the chipmunk out the door before Zane hurt it. Sometimes they don’t make it. To serve and protect those we care about is a noble job and one that I love.

So does Zane. I was once arguing loudly with a man who had done the worst job imaginable tiling our kitchen floor. He was getting really weird – as weird as he looked – and just as the thought crossed my mind that I might have to defend myself against this nut job in burst Zane and put his little body, all 15 pounds of him, in between me and the crazy guy. He was scared, of course, just like me and every person who knows that push has, indeed, come to shove and it’s time to go Brooklyn. He couldn’t look the guy in the eye and he hid behind me but came right back. I was astonished. I was so consumed with love for Zane and surprised admiration for his courage in the face of real danger that I immediately diffused the situation and got the guy out of my house so I could pet Zane and tell Amy what a brave little man we were lucky enough to be sharing our lives with.

Zane also has a very special relationship with Amy. He curls up with her every night. He won’t go near me in the bed unless Amy is not there. He kneads her like a kitten kneads his mother. Seeing them together is one of the greatest joys in my life. I know that all is well and there’s nowhere else I’d rather be. What is better than that?

So last night, when Zane came to get me for our walk, I had the psychic hit that Amy should come along with us. This has only happened a couple of times in all these years. She has always left it to me and Zane to have our special meditation time together, as she likes to work on her art or her fashions for Bergdorf Goodman at that time of the evening. It was such a beautiful night that Amy said yes to take a break, and off we went, the three of us.

Suddenly, I noticed something that was so different in Zane’s behavior that I was as shocked as I was when he came in to defend me. You see, although I say that Zane and I go walking every night, a good part of my time is spent standing around. Zane likes to sit on a couple of large decorative rocks that our neighbors have on their lawns, probably absorbing what heat they’ve stored during the day. But I do most of my standing around in the middle of the road with my red light on my head hoping the neighbors understand what I’m doing while Zane goes walking up their driveway and all around their property, especially if they have pets. It’s like I have the genetic propensity to be a constable on patrol (cop) like my father, walking my street with my partner, officer Zane, checking every house.

Only tonight Zane didn’t check any houses. In fact, his paws didn’t once leave the asphalt of the road. I had seen that he was happy that Amy was joining us. But what I realized after he very uncharacteristically walked past two of his favorite houses was that he was following Amy with a purpose. He did not take his eyes off her for one minute during the entirety of our walk! Our little warrior cat was guarding her as best he could and I am very glad that no animals decided to challenge us on our walk, for their sakes.

To protect and serve. Here was this little cat showing me and everyone who was willing to do the work of paying attention to him what being a man is all about. Too many men pervert the notion of being macho and, instead of using their defensive skills to protect and serve those they love, selfishly turn this noble energy into aggression against the very people they should be serving and protecting. It’s a true perversion of a most basic and noble human attribute. Or should I simply call it a basic attribute of all caring beings, like our Mr. Zane.P8170001

I know a little bit about martial arts, mainly from books and, from when I was in my twenties and my friend Jay Abramson, a karate black belt sparred with me/beat me up to stay in shape while he lived with me in Brooklyn before going into the Navy as a carrier pilot. I have even used my size and attitude to do security work during my time in the movie business, quoting the masters to keep the black belts from killing each other on the set of “The Last Dragon,” doing the security for the filming of the movie “A Chorus Line,” and even being Michael J. Fox’s bodyguard during the filming of “The Secret of My Success.”

Every martial artist aspires to be like a cat because they are the epitome of grace, speed, and accuracy when striking. And no animal comes close to them when it comes to balance and the economy of motion. If they knew about Zane, he’d be the cat that they’d all aspire to be like, as I do. So next time some jerk calls you a pussy, just smile and say “Thank you.”

The Solar Eclipse of July 22, 2009

T_Raphael_SimonsThe solar eclipse at 29 degrees fifty six minutes Cancer was at 2:34 AM Greenwich Mean Time on July 22nd, or 10:34 PM Eastern Daylight Time on July 21st. The first thing to say is that a solar eclipse may have either a positive or negative affect in one’s personal life depending on how the eclipse aspects one’s natal planets. If, for example, you have planets at 29 degrees Cancer, Libra, Capricorn or Aries you will be challenged by the eclipse. If you have planets at 29 degrees Virgo or Pisces the eclipse will favor you. If you have planets at 00 degrees Gemini or Sagittarius the eclipse will affect a turning point of sorts in your affairs. To get a complete picture of what the eclipse means for you personally, you will either have to read your own chart or have an astrologer do that for you. Please note: this report is about probabilities in world events as shown by the eclipse.

To find out what the eclipse means for the world, I made charts for London, Paris, Bruxelles, Berlin, Moscow; Jerusalem, Beirut, Amman, Damascus; Teheran, Delhi, Jakarta; Beijing, Anbyon North Korea, Tokyo, Wellington NZ; and Washington DC. I also looked at relevant Johndro locality charts, and at the national charts of Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and Zaire for added detail.

A major solar eclipse such as this one signals an ending and new beginning in the world, however difficult. The eclipse is at 29 degrees Cancer. Twenty-nine degrees means a weeping matter is coming to the world with this eclipse. The affects of a solar eclipse last for at least one year.

The charts for London, Paris and Bruxelles have the eclipse in the 2nd house, showing the troubled finances of western Europe and the EU and pointing to coming burdensome taxation, heavy expenditures and losses of revenue, wasted public money, and unstable conditions in the money market and in the stock markets. Financial conditions in the EU will fluctuate with some deep losses. The chart for Berlin shows the eclipse in the 1st house and points to serious discontentment and unrest amongst the general public in Germany and all of central Europe. There may come some surprising changes in the government of Germany because of this. The charts for Jerusalem, Beirut, Damascus and Ammon also have the eclipse in the 1st house showing general discontentment among the people. This tells us that Middle East will become more restless and unstable in the coming months. If we look at the band that runs approximately between 10 degrees East longitude and 36 degrees East longitude, or the area running roughly between Germany and Syria, and extend it down to south latitudes into the continent of Africa, we will find the same unsettling indications showing up in much of Central, East and South Africa. Of special interest are Libya, Chad, Sudan, Ethopia, Zaire, Uganda, and south all the way to South Africa. This whole region of the world is in considerable ferment. Of note, the national chart of Zaire has Mercury at 29 degrees Cancer in the 4th house, and ruling the 6th house. It is possible that the eclipse will trigger an epidemic in Zaire.

The charts for Moscow and Teheran put the eclipse in the 12th house, indicating serious behind the scenes trouble involving prisons, possibly relating to victims of political intreague. The chart for India puts the eclipse in the 11th house indicating changes in the Cabinet, troubles and difficulties in Parliament, dissentions and disagreements among members, also sickness, indisposition or death of a member of the government. Saturn in the India chart is in the 1st house showing the country taking a serious outlook. Venus in the India chart is in the 10th house exactly square Saturn and square Uranus confirming the possibility of sickness or death of a member of the government, possibly a lady, and/or the unpopularity of someone in the highest of the government circles.

The eclipse as affects Afghanistan and Pakistan shows the problems in Afghanistan related to opium growers funding terrorists who secretly cross over into Pakistani territory. It will be extremely difficult to control this sort of activity.

The charts for China, Japan and Korea have the eclipse at the zenith. We can expect some dramatic events to occur in East Asia involving these countries. Such an eclipse as this in the 10th house is a sign of the defeat of the government and/or heads of major corporations of pivotal importance to these nations. East Asia is heading for major changes now.

The solar eclipse may also play a role in earthquakes and volcanic activity. Areas that deserve watching include China and Japan. The Johndro locality chart confirms the possibility of earthquake activity in far eastern Asia. The Johndro chart draws a line north-south from Kamchatka Pennisula and the Kuril Islands just northeast of Japan down to Papua New Guinea. This may trigger activity in the whole region of the islands that surround the eastern, southeastern and southern sides of Asia. The Johndro charts also point to the central Atlantic, or 30 degrees west longitude, that could indicate volcanic activity increasing at the bottom of the ocean there. The eclipse appears at the zenith over the middle of the Atlantic in the Johndro chart. This would also make it a risk, at times, to cross the Atlantic by air or water. There might be a big storm coming across the ocean after the eclipse as well.

The chart for Wellington, NZ shows nothing noteworthy. This means that the range of earthquake activity indicated by the eclipse is limited to the area around East Asia. If it happens in the sea there would be tidal wave activity. The sign Cancer suggests that possibility.

Finally, the eclipse chart in the US puts the eclipse in the 5th house. This suggests that we may hear of some more deaths in the entertainment field. The chart also points to plenty of wrangling to come in the House of Representatives.

Affects of the eclipse may happen immediately or as repercussions when planets come to aspect the eclipse degree. The first repercussions may occur when the Moon comes to square the eclipse degree on July 27th, and opposition the eclipse degree on August 4th. The Moon traveling around the heavens once a month may touch off the eclipse degree several times over the course of the year following the eclipse. Venus comes to conjunction the eclipse degree on August 25th and 26th. Mars comes to conjunction the eclipse degree on October 15th and 16th. The Sun squares the eclipse degree on October 22nd. Then the Sun comes to opposition the eclipse degree on January 19th. It is said the effects of a solar eclipse can last three years. My experience tells me that the effects last one year and then fade out.

Growth and Power in Relationships

John_EnglishIt appears that soon seven billion people will be on planet earth. Isn’t that amazing! One aspect all of these people have in common regardless of nationality, religion, geographical location or gender, is relationship. Almost everyone has relationships with other people and everyone has a relationship with life, the earth and themselves. There must be something more to this than just keeping ourselves company as we spend our time here.

I have spent the better part of the last twenty years exploring our potential as human beings. As a shaman I have investigated the mysteries of intention, perception, being, the Divine and healing, all with the intention of becoming more empowered on the physical plane so that I may fulfill the potential of my higher self. With all of the exploring I have done I have found no area in life that brings me more power and purpose than relationship. This realization about personal growth has come to me through experience, and it always fills me with a great amount of hope and gratitude.

One reason relationships are so powerful is they prompt us to go outside of ourselves to learn more about our true nature. When we reach out to another human being, to discuss consciously what is going on with us, we release the energy of our current challenge. This allows us to see our challenge in a new light with the help of another. We realize that this challenge is in our lives so we can grow from it and become empowered. Then we are available to assist others with similar challenges. I have found that releasing the energy surrounding a situation, by speaking to another human being about it, is essential for being able to change our perception. Once we change our perception anything is possible. The only requirement to be available for this shift is to let go completely of the need to be right.

Another way relationships provide so much growth is through the power of mirrors. Every person in our lives is a mirror in which we can see ourselves. The way this works is that people mirror back to you everything that is within you. This includes your divinity and your character defects. The way we identify if someone is mirroring to us, instead of just being who they are, or who they think they are in this world, is if the behavior in question has an emotional charge. When we set our intention to pay attention to how we feel in our relationships, and read the mirrors without blaming anyone, including ourselves, a phenomenal amount of power comes to us. We are able to identify the small things about ourselves so we can move into the strength and purpose of our higher selves.

Most of the different spiritual traditions detail how the One Spirit many refer to as God fashioned its creation out of love so that it might get to know its Self through its creation. Whether we are conscious of it or not we all have a relationship with the Creator and its creation. Every creator has a relationship with its creation. You have a relationship with the creation of your life, which includes all of your relationships. The stories and myths about the beginning of creation tell us that the power of relationship tracks all the way back to the beginning. If you reach out to other people to overcome a challenge in your life and you remember that you are using the same power and intention for creation in the first place, that challenge will become a means for you to know your Self. Soon your entire life will change as well as your challenges. Your life will be a manifestation of beauty and the meaning, purpose and power you have always wanted it to be.

Personal or Global: the Same Choices

Luigi_MorelliWhat comes to light through the numerous spiritual experiences possible in our time – particularly the NDEs (http://www.iands.org/nde_index.php) – is a defining experience of the reality of our higher self and of that “love that surpasses all understanding.” The ordinary ego, ensnared, defined, and imprisoned in the dimension of the shadow, both aspires to and dreads, as an ultimate annihilation, the step of recognition of our deeper essence in the spirit. The higher self—some challenges us—is more foreign to us in our daily lives than any other human being on Earth.

To the ego, all other human beings stand as competitors that it tries to overcome or dim. This unspoken Darwinian struggle for the survival of the fittest, illusion though it may be, colors much of ordinary life, and the full recognition of our shadow is, as a rule, feared and avoided. Competition and fear are the grounds upon which the ego ordinarily operates, until it decides consciously to let the higher self educate it. The dramatic recognition of our higher self is accompanied by the realization of the divine love that supports us. People who have reached this stage, especially if consciously, can burn the “residues” of their lower ego in the light and love that emanates from the spirit.

We could say—although in a very schematic fashion—that the path of individuation spans the spectrum between fear and love. At one end the ego, wholly identified with its shadow, lives in a continuous state of fear. This fear is confronted in degrees on the path of encounter with our shadow, and fully overcome in the full experience of our higher self in the spirit. However, all of us can let ourselves be guided and inspired to take the path of personal growth and love even before we reach this goal as a personal experience.

The ego that needs to be overcome and transformed is the essential instrument that ties us to life on Earth, that gives us certainty and assurance while we are more or less cut off from the spirit. Therefore it is a stage that cannot be bypassed in order to reach a higher consciousness. More and more tools have emerged in the last century that allow us to chip away at the resistances of the ego, and to do so at larger and larger levels (http://www.humanspiritcircles.com/pages/experiential.html)

What Pre birth Experiences (http://www.amazon.com/Coming-Light-Sarah-Hinze/dp/0671001590), near Death Experiences, previous-life memories, and other threshold experiences are showing us is the working of destiny and karma. The factor of context is the link with the idea of human destiny that can lead to a new understanding of karma and repeated earthly lives. Those who have had positive experiences often puzzle over why they were “chosen.” The case of Dannion Brinkley (See Saved by the Light) (http://www.dannion.com/books.htm) is a good example. Why, as he says himself, did this experience befall an individual who had painted such a poor picture in his present life? Could it be that grace from previous lives rewarded him for what he had not yet accomplished in the present? Isn’t this the same grace that gives him the strength to atone for his shortcomings? For those who manage to come to terms with these experiences, given an understanding of the spiritual background, the path of integration is likely to be much easier and shorter.

Global culture works in tandem with the examples of personal spiritual experiences we have outlined. Individual consciousness mirrors global consciousness. The personal experience of spiritual abundance is preceded by a personal encounter with the shadow, the personal abyss, everything that wants to define a world of scarcity and fear and deny the existence of hope, compassion, and love. It is a stage that takes time, tolerance, and dedication to overcome, and that leads us to believe that there will be no light at the end of the tunnel. The encounter with the Light of love, or Christ, is the experience to which humanity can aspire in its future. In near-death-like experiences, more and more individuals emerge refreshed and newly motivated, knowing the reality of love and of an abundance that can fill all dimensions of our lives. But we do not need to experience it firsthand to embrace its message and walk in its footsteps. We all stand before this epoch-making choice in our lives.

Civilization is going through this worldwide set of choices—a culture of fear accompanied by scarcity of resources, mounting terrorism, and insecurity; or a gradual shift towards the embodiment of a sustainable economic development that supports personal growth, compassion, and all the highest human aspirations. (http://www.humanspiritcircles.com/pages/trisector.html) The choice lies between a culture of exclusion, antagonism, and competition and a new way of looking at “the other” as the indispensable complement that allows us to overcome isolation, separateness, and loss of meaning. Instead of the old dualism of good and evil, right or wrong, good or bad, we can make room for a new philosophy—one of reconciliation in which relative evil, or imbalance, is not fought and overcome, but rather understood, integrated, and transformed, whether at the personal or the collective level.

kala_ambrosePrepare for the Transition to a New Era with 2012: Dawn of a New Age Conference at Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E.

The ancient Mayans calculated the movement of the stars and planets carefully and saw a major shift in human evolution beginning on the winter solstice, December 21, 2012. Explore the differing views on the meaning of the end of the Mayan calendar as Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. hosts 2012: Dawn of a New Age Conference, July 23-26, 2009.

This conference will explore the prophecies of mathematicians, astronomers, researchers, and mystics. Join Mayan elder Don Carlos Barrios; expert authors, including Daniel Pinchbeck, Carl Johan Calleman, Geoff Stray, Dr. Christine Page, and John Van Auken; and astronomer James Mullaney. Other great prophecies of change, including Nostradamus, the Bible, Mary, the Cayce readings, and more, are explored to prepare your body, mind, and soul for the transition to a new era.

Don Carlos Barrios is a historian, researcher, anthropologist, and author of the forthcoming Book of Destiny: Unlocking the Secrets of the Ancient Mayans and Prophecy of 2012. Born in Guatemala, he made his home in Huehuetenango, the dwelling place of the Maya Mam tribe, known as the “keepers of time.” He studied with traditional elders for 25 years, becoming a Mayan Ajq’ij, a ceremonial priest, shaman, and spiritual guide. He will lead an optional Mayan Sacred Fire Ceremony designed to create a vortex of energy on Sunday, July 26.

Carl Johan Calleman, PhD, holds a doctorate in physical biology from the University of Stockholm. He has been a senior researcher at the University of Washington and served with the World Health Organization (WHO). A world-renowned expert on the Mayan calendar, he is the author of The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness and the forthcoming The Purposeful Universe.

Geoff Stray has been studying the meaning of 2012 for 25 years, and his research was compiled into the Web site Diagnosis2012.co.uk, the Internet’s leading 2012 database. Daniel Pinchbeck, author of 2012: The Return of Quetzelcoatl and Breaking Open the Head, had a profound spiritual crisis in his late twenties that led him to the study of shamanism. He became convinced of the legitimacy of the shamanic and mystical worldview held by the indigenous peoples of the world and its importance to our society and our immediate future. John Van Auken, a longtime staff member of A.R.E. is one of our most popular speakers on ancient mysteries and mystical spirituality. He has appeared on several television programs, including the Discovery Channel’s Search for Atlantis and the History Channel’s Digging for the Truth. The author of 2012 and the Galactic Center and other books, she is also a gifted intuitive, teacher, and speaker, a messenger and bridge-builder between different worlds—whether among modalities of health care or levels of consciousness. James Mullaney, FRAS, author of Edgar Cayce and the Cosmos and other books, is an astronomy writer, lecturer, consultant, former curator of the Buhl Planetarium, and more recently director of the DuPont Planetarium. He served as editor for Sky & Telescope, Astronomy, and Star & Sky magazines, and was recently elected a fellow of the prestigious Royal Astronomical Society of London.
